The Old Noarlunga swing bridge on Paringa Parade was destroyed in spring floods last year. Without the pedestrian bridge access to the Onkaparinga River National Park, it has been difficult for local residents and other park users. The Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources has investigated a number of design and construction options to restore access to the park. A truss bridge has been identified as the most suitable option in regards to durability, flood resistance, appearance and cost.
Technical work for the design of the bridge has been completed and now it’s time to decide on what it will look like. We are seeking feedback on the aesthetic features of the bridge including type and material of the balustrade and decking, colours for the structure and ideas on how to incorporate heritage elements into the new truss bridge.
